| Delivering Tax Relief for Central New York |
|
Following this week's vote in the House on tax reform, I’d like offer a detailed explanation of my position on this bill. I strongly believe this legislation will benefit families in Central New York. Check out my below video message to hear why. |

Since I first began running for Congress, I’ve advocated for comprehensive tax reform to ensure working families in Central New York can take home more of what they earn and to level the playing field so our local businesses can compete on the world stage. This week, I cast my vote in favor of a bill to start the process of making those promises a reality.
The tax reform legislation before the House this week, while not perfect, is a good start. I’ve carefully reviewed this bill and consulted with local families, small business owners, and individuals throughout our community. Their message was clear: our tax code is too complex and it places an unfair burden on working families. Congress must act to change the status quo.
Presented with a bill that provides tax cuts for the vast majority of working families in my district and which will allow our local businesses the opportunity to invest in our workforce, I chose to vote yes.
This process is far from over. As the Senate develops and votes on its own bill and both houses work to send a final measure to the President's desk, I will continue to put Central New York's interests first.

| Small Business Roundtable |
Small businesses are the backbone of our community. They provide good-paying jobs and enhance our local economy. Recently, Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon visited Syracuse for a roundtable discussion with small business owners. At our roundtable, these local employers had the opportunity to highlight directly to the Administration how tax reform can help them. One message was clear: with some tax relief, our local small business owners will be able to reinvest in our local workforce. I’m committed to fighting to grow Central New York’s economy and I believe the tax bill that passed through the House will allow our small businesses to do that.

| Video Recap: Bipartisan Congressional Delegation to Middle East, Europe |
The below video highlights a recent House Homeland Security delegation visit that I led to the Middle East and parts of Europe. This trip provided critical insight into how we can keep our country safe, and what we need to do in order to enhance our partnerships with foreign officials abroad. I will keep your updated as we work in Congress to continue these efforts.

| Tuesday Group Co-Chair |
Tuesday Group is a constructive group of dedicated Members of Congress committed to advancing real solutions. Since coming to Congress, I've served as a member of this group. I'm honored to be selected to serve as co-chair to a group dedicated to advancing constructive solutions. Despite the gridlock in Washington, I have always worked across the aisle to produce results. Serving in this capacity will strengthen my ability to continue this work as an independent voice for Central New York.
Tuesday Group was founded in 1994 to act as a counterbalance to far-right and far-left factions within the House of Representatives, and is comprised of more than 50 center-right House Republicans today. We specifically focus on the need to govern and perform the basic duties of government such as responsible budgeting and an efficient appropriations process. We have been, and always will be, committed to passing meaningful, bipartisanship legislation that puts people above divisive rhetoric that has plagued our political system for far too long |

| Around Central New York |
In honor of Veterans Day, I had the distinct pleasure of honoring our local veterans at ceremonies throughout the district. It is because of the brave men and women who served our country that we are able to enjoy our freedom and our democracy today. |

I joined Spectrum News to host a "Take a Vet to School Day" at Grant Middle School in the Syracuse City School District. Special thanks to our participating veterans and local advocates, including Syracuse Police Chief Fowler, Judge Fahey, and Earl Fontenot from Clear Path for Veterans for joining me for this panel discussion.

National Adoption Day is a collective, national effort to raise awareness of more than 110,000 children in foster care waiting for permanent and loving families. Friday marked a very special moment for many families in Onondaga County as more then 50 adoptions were finalized during at a ceremony recognizing National Adoption Day! My wife, Robin, and I know what a special day this is for all of those in our community who celebrated becoming a family this morning. We wish them a lifetime of happiness! |
